In Emergency
For emergencies contact Police 000 to begin a search and rescue. As much information as possible about the trip route and participants should be provided.
Consider contacting the Police the morning following a late return in case the trip has been delayed by difficult terrain, minor injuries or failing light and the group may be able to walk out the next day.
Span trip leaders are advised to carry a Personal Locator Beacon for use in emergencies.
For advice
If a trip has failed to return as scheduled contact a Span committee member. They should be able to provide further details about the trip and terrain.
